Ингредиенты

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) 35% cream
  • 1/4 cup (55 g) dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (55 g) semi salted or unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (170 g) pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 6 tbsp (85 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup (140 g) dark brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) molasses
  • 2 eggs 

  • 1 1/3 cups (160 g) self-rising baking flour
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) milk

  1. In a saucepan, bring the cream, brown sugar and butter to a boil, stirring until smooth. Pour half the caramel into a 20-cm (8-inch) square baking dish or a 2 litres (8 cups) capacity pan. Set aside.
