    In a small pot, bring the water, sugar, figs and bay leaves to a boil. Simmer for 3 minutes. Pour into a bowl and let cool. Cover and refrigerate until completely chilled, about 1 hour. Strain through a sieve. Compost the aromatics. There will be enough syrup to prepare four cocktails.
