In a pot over medium heat, soften the vegetables, except for the broccoli, in the oil for 10 minutes. Add the broth. Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Add the broccoli and cook for 5 to 7 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.

In a blender, purée the soup until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Ladle into bowls and garnish with the sliced almonds.
