In a large bowl, using a wooden spoon, combine the flour, sugar, yeast and salt. Add the water and oil. Mix until the dough comes together in a ball. Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a floured work surface until smooth.

Shape the dough into a ball and place in a clean, lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a damp dishcloth and let rise in a warm, humid spot for 2 hours or until doubled in volume.

With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
