2 teaspoons (10 ml) paprika
2 teaspoons (10 ml) ground ginger
2 teaspoons (10 ml) ground coriander
1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground cumin
1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried rosemary
1 teaspoon (5 ml) cracked black pepper
1 chicken, about 3 lbs (1.4 kg), cut into 8 pieces (see note)
2 onions, peeled and quartered
3 carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch (2.5-cm) pieces
1 large rutabaga, peeled and cubed
2 potatoes, peeled and quartered
1/2 cup (125 ml) olive oil
1 can 28 oz (796 ml) whole tomatoes, drained
