Meet your new comfort food fave! We took the classic Quebec dessert, pouding chômeur, and gave it an apple twist just in time for autumn.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (420 g) brown sugar
  • 1 cup (250 ml) water
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 3 Cortland apples, peeled, seeded and cubed
  • 1 cup (150 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (105 g) sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) milk

Instructions

  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
