Air Fryer Open-Faced Reuben Sandwiches

A cousin of the smoked meat sandwich, the Reuben is served between slices of toasted bread with a creamy ketchup and mustard sauce, as well as melting Swiss cheese. Served on toast, it’s the ideal format for the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) ketchup
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) prepared yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 1 cup (250 ml) store-bought sauerkraut, drained
  • 3/4 lb (340 g) sliced smoked meat
  • 8 sour gherkins, halved lengthwise
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • Dill fronds, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Set aside.
