Apple Crumble Pie
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (105 g) sugar
- 2 tbsp (18 g) cornstarch
- 1 cup (250 ml) unsweetened applesauce
- 2 McIntosh apples, peeled, seeded and diced
- 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1/2 recipe Basic Shortcrust Pastry, rolled-out into an 11-inch (28 cm) circle
- 1/4 cup (60 g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (35 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (25 g) quick-cooking rolled oats
- 1/4 cup (28 g) ground almonds
- 1/4 cup (57 g) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- With the rack in the lowest position, preheat the oven to 190 °C (375 °F).
- In a saucepan off the heat, combine the sugar and cornstarch. Add the applesauce and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in the apples and vanilla. Set aside.
