Ingredients

  • 1 cup (150 g) white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, cut into rounds ½ inch (1 cm) thick
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) olive oil
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 lb (340 g) lean ground beef
  • 2 hamburger buns, warmed (see note)
  • Whole-grain mustard, to taste
  • Mayonnaise, to taste
  • 2 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup (15 g) arugula

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the mushrooms, onion, oil and Worcestershire. Season with salt and pepper. Place the vegetable mixture in the basket of an air fryer. Cook for 8 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
  2. Meanwhile, shape the meat into 2 patties. Place on a plate. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Push the vegetables to the sides of the air fryer basket. Place the beef patties at the centre of the basket. Cook for 10 minutes, flipping the patties over halfway through cooking (see note).
  4. Cover the inside of the hamburger buns with mustard and mayonnaise. Place the patties on the bun bottoms and top with the cheese. Cover with the vegetable mixture and arugula. Close with the bun tops. Serve with green salad, if desired.
