French 75
The French 75 dates back to World War I, when the potent kick of gin topped with champagne was first poured at the New York Bar in Paris.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (150 g) ice cubes
- 2 oz (60 ml) gin
- ½ oz (15 ml) lemon juice
- ½ oz (15 ml) cane syrup
- 2 oz (60 ml) champagne, cold
- 1 long lemon zest
Instructions
- Fill a champagne glass with half of the ice cubes (½ cup/75 g) for 5 minutes to chill the glass. Discard the ice cubes.
- In a cocktail shaker, vigorously combine the gin, lemon juice, syrup and the remaining ice cubes (½ cup/75 g). Filter into the
- chilled glass. Top up with the champagne and garnish with the lemon zest.
