Oranges Macerated in Cinnamon and Lemon
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup (70 g) sugar
- 1/3 cup (75 ml) water
- 1 cinnamon stick, about 2 inches (5 cm) long
- 1/2 lemon, zest finely grated
- 1/2 lemon, sliced into 3 rounds and seeded
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) lemon juice
- 3 oranges, peel and pith removed, sliced into thin rounds
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring the sugar, water, cinnamon, zest, lemon rounds and juice to a boil. Simmer for about 1 minute or until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Spread the orange slices out in a baking dish and pour the hot syrup over them. Let cool.
- Drain the orange slices. Discard the cinnamon stick and lemon slices.
