    With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).

    Spread butter on one side of each bread slices. Place each slice of bread in a muffin cup, buttered side down, to form small bowls. Bake the bowls for about 20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Keep aside.

    While baking the vol-au-vents, prepare the béchamel sauce.
