    In a small bowl, combine the ginger, garlic, spices and salt and oil. Season generously with pepper.

    In another bowl, combine the yogurt with half of the ginger mixture. Add the chicken and toss to coat well with the marinade. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for 4 to 8 hours. Cover the remaining ginger mixture and refrigerate it, reserving it for the sauce.
