Homemade Vol-au-Vent

  • 8 slices of bread, with or without the crust
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) butter, softened

  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  2. Spread butter on one side of each bread slices. Place each slice of bread in a muffin cup, buttered side down, to form small bowls. Bake the bowls for about 20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Keep aside.
  3. While baking the vol-au-vents, prepare the béchamel sauce.
