With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 11 x 8-inch (28 x 20 cm) rectangular cake pan with parchment paper, letting it hang over 2 sides.

In a bowl, combine the flour and salt.

In another bowl, cream the butter with the sugar and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat until smooth. Using a wooden spoon, stir in the dry ingredients and the cranberries. Press into the bottom of the pan.

Bake for 25 minutes or until the crust is lightly golden.
