    In a bowl, combine the beer, water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes.

    In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.

    Add the egg and vanilla to the beer mixture. Add the dry ingredients and whisk for 2 minutes. Add the butter and whisk until the batter is smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rest for 1 hour in a warm, draft-free place.

    Preheat the waffle iron. Pour about 1/3 cup (75 ml) of batter per cavity. Close the waffle iron and cook for about 5 minutes or until golden brown. Keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter.
