Whole Chicken in the Slow Cooker
Ingredients
- 1 skinless chicken, about 4 lbs (1.8 kg)
- 1 small rutabaga, peeled and cubed
- 3 carrots, peeled and cubed
- 12 baby potatoes
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 5 cups (1.25 litres) chicken broth or water, approximately
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in the slow cooker. Add the broth to cover the chicken. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours (4 hours or high heat) or until the meat falls easily from the bone. Adjust the seasoning.
