Tomato Sauce with Meatballs
Ingredients
- The crumb of 2 slices white bread, diced
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) chicken broth or water
- 1 lb (454 g) lean ground beef
- The meat 1 sweet or spicy Italian sausage
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground fennel seeds
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried oregano
- Salt and pepper
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) white wine
- 1 can 28 oz (798 ml) crushed tomatoes with or without pieces
- 1 cup (250 ml) chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven’s broiler. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
