Miso-Honey Pork Meatballs

Served with little toothpicks, these meatballs make a perfect amuse-bouche. They’re coated in a honey, ginger, soy and miso sauce for an Asian-inspired treat.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) honey
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) sambal oelek
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) miso
  • 1/2 lb (225 g) lean ground pork
  • 1/4 cup (20 g) panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped, plus more for serving
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) miso
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) sambal oelek
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, bring the honey and ginger to a boil. Simmer for 30 seconds. Add the soy sauce and sambal oelek. Mix well. Simmer for 4 minutes. Remove from the heat. Add the vinegar and miso. Set aside.
