Glazed Meatballs with Green Apple and Basil
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) water
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) mirin
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 lb (225 g) lean ground pork
- 1/4 cup (15 g) panko bread crumbs
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp (5 ml) fish sauce
- 1 tsp (5 ml) sambal oelek
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup (10 g) basil, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 green apple, cored and cut into bite-sized triangles 1/4 inch (5 mm) thick
- Small basil leaves
Instructions
- In a small pot, bring all the ingredients to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the glaze is very thick and syrupy. Cover and set aside.
