Korean-Style Beef and Kiwi Skewers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kiwi, peeled 

  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) mirin
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml) sambal oelek, or to taste
  • 1 1/2 lb (675 g) thin slices beef top round, cut into strips
  • 3 kiwi, peeled and finely diced 

  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 8 metal skewers or wood skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a glass dish, mash the kiwi with a fork. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Set aside.
  2. Preheat the grill, setting the burners to high. Oil the grate.
