Fried Chicken with Cheese Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 cups (500 ml) milk
- ¼ cup (60 ml) lemon juice
- 2 tsp dried tarragon
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2.2 lb (1 kg) boneless, skinless chicken thighs (about 12 thighs)
- 3 cups (450 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp dried tarragon
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 tbsp unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups (375 ml) milk
- 11 oz (300 g) firm washed rind cheese, rind removed, cheese grated (see note)
- 1 jalapeño chili pepper, seeded or not, chopped
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Let marinate for 30 minutes or refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
