Tropical Fruit Salad with Vanilla Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 mango, peeled, pitted and diced
- 1/2 pineapple, peeled and diced
- 1 can 14 oz (398 ml) whole pitted lychees, drained and halved
- 1 cup (250 ml) fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 star fruit, sliced
- 1 green apple, diced
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) water
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine all the fruit.
- In a saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
- The syrup will have thickened slightly. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Allow to cool before pouring into a small jug or bowl. Serve the fruit salad in pretty bowls and let each person add vanilla syrup, to taste.
- You can also add the fruit of your choice. Enjoy the winter season, the season of tropical fruit, to discover new ones.
