Puff Pastry

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (450 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (250 ml) cold water
  • 2 cups (450 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) unbleached all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the centre and pour in the butter and water. Using your fingers, work the mixture until the dough forms large clumps.
  2. On a floured work surface, knead the dough until smooth. Shape into a 6-inch (15-cm) square. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
