Mille-Feuille
Ingredients
- 1 package 6 1/2 oz (200 g) puff pastry
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) milk
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) sugar
- 2 cups (500 ml) milk
- 1 vanilla bean
- 2/3 cup (150 ml) sugar
- 1/3 cup (75 ml) flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup (250 ml) 35% whipping cream
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1 cup (250 ml) icing sugar
- 2 to 3 teaspoons (10 to 15 ml) water
- 1/2 square of 1 oz (30 g) chocolate
Instructions
- Line a 43 x 30-cm (17 x 12-inch) baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a 3-mm (1/8-inch) thick 40 x 20-cm (16 x 8-inch) rectangle. Put the dough onto the baking sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F).
- Prick entire surface of the dough with a fork. Brush with the milk and sprinkle with the sugar. Bake for about 15 minutes. Let cool.
