Honey-Caramelized Pears
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) salted butter
- 4 Bartlett pears, ripe but firm, peeled, cored and each cut into 6 wedges
- 2 slices fresh ginger, about 1/4-inch (1/2-cm) thick
- Pinch ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) pecan halves, toasted
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- In a large non-stick skillet, heat the honey with the butter for 2 to 3 minutes or until the honey caramelizes.
- Add the pears, ginger, and cinnamon. Continue cooking over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes or until the pears are tender and caramelized.
- Add the pecans and continue cooking for 1 to 2 minutes while stirring. Remove the ginger and place the pears in four small bowls. Top with a scoop of ice cream and the pecans.
