Fried Butter Bites
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) icing sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) breadcrumbs
- Icing sugar
Instructions
- In a bowl, cream the butter with the cheese and icing sugar until smooth. With a 5 ml (1 teaspoon) measuring spoon soaked in boiling water, form 15 balls of approximately 10 ml (2 teaspoons) each. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for 2 hours.
- In a bowl, add the flour. In a second, the beaten egg and in a third, the breadcrumbs. Coat the frozen butter balls with flour. Dip in the egg and coat with breadcrumbs. Roll again in the egg and finish in the breadcrumbs. Set aside in the freezer, until ready to fry.
- Preheat the oil in the deep fryer to 180 °C (350 °). Fry the butter balls for 1 minute to 1 ½ minute or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Dust with icing sugar. Serve with chocolate sauce or raspberry sauce.
