Braised Pears in Red Wine
Leftover wine? Here’s how to use it.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) red wine
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick, about 3 inches (7.5 cm) long
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
- 3 ripe Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and each cut into 8 wedges
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, bring all the ingredients to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the pears are tender and the wine is syrupy. Let cool completely.
- Delicious on ice cream or with cake.
