  • The Cherry Tea

    The Cherry Tea

“Here’s a cocktail to cocoon with on chilly autumn nights. I started with Earl Grey infused in a simple syrup made with seasonal ground cherries for good measure. In terms of spirits, rum and vermouth are an underrated match and a lot of home bars have them handy. The ground cherries blend well with the rum’s vanilla notes, while the orange garnish pairs nicely with the bergamot-flavoured tea. Put it alltogether and you have a balanced cocktail for fall.”— Nicolas Cadrin, recipe tester

  • Le Premier Word

    Le Premier Word

This play on the classic Last Word cocktail (gin, Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, fresh lime juice) is a tribute to Montreal—and Canada. I used a local British-style gin, local apple cider and the French herbal liqueur, Chartreuse. The final touch of Scotch is a nod to the country’s Celtic side and adds wonderful depth. –Kate Boushel, bartender, Atwater Cocktail Club, Montreal

  • Bloody Caesar

    Bloody Caesar

Invented in Calgary almost 40 years ago, the Bloody Caesar is Canada’s cocktail. Beyond the requisite dash of hot sauce and Worcestershire, I also spike my Caesar with horseradish for more zip with every sip. I skip the celery salt rim (it just gets all over my face!). For stress-free summer vibes and a super-thirsty crowd (i.e., everyone I know), I mix mine by the pitcherful. — Laura Osborne, Editor-in-Chief

  • Mai Tai

    Mai Tai

First made famous at Trader Vic’s in California, the Mai Tai is the quintessential tiki tipple. The drink’s name was inspired by the Tahitian expression for “out of this world,” and our spin is exactly that thanks to a splash of pineapple juice and apricot brandy.
