The Benediction (Champagne and Herb Liqueur Cocktail)

Ingredients

  • 1 oz (30 ml) herb liqueur (such as Bénédictine or Drambuie), cold
  • 3 drops Angostura-type bitters
  • 5 oz (150 ml) Champagne or dry Prosecco, cold
  • 2 juniper berries, halved
  • 1 strip lemon zest, about 6 inches (15 cm) long, removed with the channel-knife end of a lemon zester
  • 1 thyme sprig
  • 1 dill or chervil sprig

Instructions

  1. Pour the herb liqueur into a Champagne flute. Add the bitters. Top up with the Champagne. Add the juniper berries.
  2. Curl up the lemon zest. Using a small cocktail pick, hang the lemon zest, thyme and dill on the outside of the glass.
