Mint Julep
For bourbon lovers, the Mint Julep—a Kentucky Derby classic—is traditionally served in a frosted, shiny, stainless steel cup.
Ingredients
- ½ cup (125 ml) water
- ½ cup (105 g) sugar
- ¼ cup (10 g) fresh mint leaves
- 1 ½ oz (45 ml) bourbon
- 1 sprig fresh mint
- Crushed ice
- Icing sugar (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring the water, sugar and mint to a boil. Remove from the heat. Let cool completely.
- Filter the mint syrup. Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
