Hot Buttered Rum
Ingredients
- ¼ cup (55 g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¼ cup (55 g) brown sugar
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) maple syrup
- ½ orange, zest finely grated
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 pinch ground cloves
- 2 cups (500 ml) water
- ½ to ¾ cup (125 to 180 ml) dark rum (see note)
- ½ cup (125 ml) 35% whipping cream
- 2 tsp sugar
- Ground cinnamon, to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer. Add the maple syrup, orange zest and spices and mix to combine.
- In a small pot, bring the water to a boil. Remove from the heat. Whisk in the spiced butter. Whisk in the rum. Set aside.
