Todoroki Beef

Ingredients

  • 2.2 lb (1 kg) strip loin steaks, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick, at room temperature
  • 6 tbsp (90 ml) untoasted sesame oil
  • 6 tbsp (90 ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
  • 4 green onions, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  • Arugula and lime, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill, setting the burners to high. Oil the grate.
  2. Trim visible fat from the beef. Grill for about 3 minutes
  3. on each side for rare meat, or until the desired doneness.
  4. Let rest for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. In a dish or a large sealable plastic bag, combine the marinade ingredients. Add the cooled, whole steaks.
  6. Cover the dish or seal the bag. Refrigerate for 8 hours.
  7. Turn occasionally.
  8. Cut the steaks into thin strips. Arrange on a plate, garnish with arugula and drizzle with the marinade. Serve with lime wedges, if desired.
