Tuna Melt
Ingredients
- 1 can (3 1/2 oz/99 g) oil-packed solid tuna, drained
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) mayonnaise, plus more for spreading
- 1 tbsp sour gherkins, cut into small dice, plus more for serving
- 1 tbsp dill, finely chopped
- 1 tsp (5 ml) whole-grain mustard
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) sambal oelek
- 3 slices Monterey Jack cheese
- 2 slices sandwich bread
Instructions
- Preheat a mini electric sandwich maker for 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, gherkins, dill, mustard and sambal oelek. Season with salt and pepper.
- On a work surface, place half of the cheese on 1 slice of bread. Cover the cheese with the tuna mixture and top with the remaining cheese. Close the sandwich. Generously cover the outside of the sandwich with mayonnaise.
- Place the sandwich in the sandwich maker. Close the machine and cook for 6 minutes or until the bread is nicely browned. Cut the sandwich in half. Serve with small gherkins, if desired. Serve immediately.
