Smoked Mackerel Rillettes

Ingredients

  • 1 plain smoked mackerel fillet, about 4 oz (115 g)
  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) 35% whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp capers, chopped
  • 1 lemon, zest finely grated
  • Toasted baguette slices

Instructions

  1. On a work surface, scrape the skin off of the mackerel using a butter knife. Shred the flesh, being careful to remove any bones.
  2. In a bowl, whisk the cream until soft peaks form. Using a spatula, fold in the shredded fish and remaining ingredients, except for the baguette. Lightly season with salt and pepper. Serve the rillettes with the baguette.
