White Ale Waffles
Ingredients
- 1 bottle (341 ml) white ale
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) water
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1/4 cup (55 g) sugar
- 2 cups (300 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (75 g) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the beer, water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the egg and vanilla to the beer mixture. Add the dry ingredients and whisk for 2 minutes. Add the butter and whisk until the batter is smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rest for 1 hour in a warm, draft-free place.
- Preheat the waffle iron. Pour about 1/3 cup (75 ml) of batter per cavity. Close the waffle iron and cook for about 5 minutes or until golden brown. Keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter.
