Japanese Glazing Sauce for Pork Skewers
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) soy sauce
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) sake
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) mirin
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 5 slices fresh ginger, peeled
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring all ingredients to a boil. Simmer for about 8 minutes or until sauce is very syrupy.
- Remove garlic and ginger. You should be left with about 125 ml (½ cup) of sauce. Let cool. Keep in the refrigerator, if needed.
