Homemade Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 ml) warm water
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 cups (300 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the water, yeast and sugar. Let stand until the mixture foams on top, about 5 minutes.
  2. In a food processor, making sure to use the plastic blade or the dough hook, combine the flour and salt. Increase the speed to medium and pour in the yeast mixture, while the machine is running, until a soft ball forms.
  3. Remove the dough from the bowl and knead for a few minutes on a lightly floured surface. Shape the dough into a ball and place in a clean, lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a clean cloth and let rise in a warm, humid spot for 20 minutes.
  4. Cut the dough in half. Use the pizza dough immediately or cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate (for up to 48 hours) or freeze.
  5. This recipe will make two 9-inch (23-cm) thin-crust pizzas or two 8-inch (20-cm) thicker-crust pizzas.
