Chocolate-Hazelnut Oatmeal
Start the day with a full stomach with this warm cereal recipe, a true dose of comfort. It’s a combination of oats, unsweetened oat milk for added creaminess, maple syrup, milk chocolate and hazelnut butter. It’s a gourmet bowl that’ll add some variety when you’re craving something sweet in the mornings.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup (35 g) quick-cooking oats
- 2/3 cup (150 ml) unsweetened oat beverage
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) maple syrup, plus more for serving
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) hazelnut butter (see note), plus more for serving
- 2 dates, pitted and diced
- 1 tbsp roasted blanched (peeled) hazelnuts, chopped
- 1 tbsp milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- In a small pot, bring the oats, oat beverage, maple syrup and hazelnut butter to a boil while stirring constantly. Simmer over low heat for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and let rest for 2 minutes. Adjust the consistency by adding more oat beverage as needed.
- Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl. Top with the dates, hazelnuts, chocolate and more hazelnut butter. Drizzle with more maple syrup and sprinkle with cinnamon.
