Chicken Burgers with Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup (250 ml) maple syrup
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 cup (250 ml) ketchup
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) apple cider vinegar
- 2 tsp (10 ml) sambal oelek
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground coriander
- 8 skinless, boneless chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- 4 large hamburger buns
- Mayonnaise
- 1 avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced
- Iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the maple syrup, shallot and garlic to a boil. Simmer for about 3 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and return to a boil. Simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Set aside.
