Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) beef flank steak (see note)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 lb (450 g) broccoli, cut into florets
- 3 tbsp (45 ml) vegetable oil
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced, white and green parts separated
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 small carrot, cut in half lengthwise and thinly sliced into halfmoons
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, chopped
- 1/3 cup (75 ml) water
- 3 tbsp (45 ml) low-sodium soy sauce
- 3 tbsp (45 ml) oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp (5 ml) toasted sesame oil
Instructions
- On a work surface, slice the steak against the grain. In a bowl, combine the meat with the baking soda. Let marinate for 15 minutes (see note).
- Rinse the meat under cold running water. Drain and pat dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
- Meanwhile, in a pot of salted boiling water, blanch the broccoli for 2 minutes. Drain.
