Avocado and Sesame Salmon Tartare Toasts

For a quick lunch that’s simple, fresh and tasty, prepare this salmon tartare on toast. Combine avocado, lime, diced raw salmon and some sesame dressing, that brings flavour to the fish, as well as Sriracha. Spread the mixture on a slice of toast with avocado and hit the patio for a light and delicious meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) lime juice
  • 4 oz (115 g) very fresh salmon without skin, cut into small dice
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) store-bought Asian-style sesame dressing, plus more for serving
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) sriracha sauce
  • 2 slices multi-grain bread, 1/2 inch (1 cm) each, toasted
  • 1 tsp roasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mash half of the avocado with 2 tsp (10 ml) of the lime juice. Season with salt.
  2. On a work surface, dice the remaining avocado. Drizzle with the remaining lime juice.
  3. In another bowl, combine the salmon with the shallot, dressing and sriracha. Gently mix in the diced avocado. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Spread the mashed avocado over the bread. Top with the salmon tartare. Garnish with the sesame seeds and drizzle with more dressing. Serve immediately.
