Air Fryer Open-Faced Reuben Sandwiches
A cousin of the smoked meat sandwich, the Reuben is served between slices of toasted bread with a creamy ketchup and mustard sauce, as well as melting Swiss cheese. Served on toast, it’s the ideal format for the air fryer.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) ketchup
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) prepared yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 small shallot, finely chopped
- 4 slices rye bread
- 1 cup (250 ml) store-bought sauerkraut, drained
- 3/4 lb (340 g) sliced smoked meat
- 8 sour gherkins, halved lengthwise
- 8 slices Swiss cheese
- Dill fronds, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Set aside.
