Ingredients
- 1 cup (150 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup (250 ml) 2% plain Greek yogurt
- 3 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and baking soda. Stir in the yogurt with a wooden spoon. Once the dough becomes too thick to mix with the spoon, use with your fingertips, then your hands until the dough forms into a smooth ball.
- On a lightly floured work surface, cut the dough into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a log 10 inches (25 cm) long. Pinch the two extremities of the log together to shape into a bagel about 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.
- Place the sesame seeds on a small plate.
- Using a pastry brush, cover the top of the bagels with the beaten egg. Working with one bagel at a time, flip over into the sesame seeds. Brush the other side with the olive oil.
- Place two bagels, oiled-side down, in the basket of an air fryer. Cook for 6 minutes at 375°F (190°C). Flip the bagels over and continue to cook for 5 to 6 minutes or until golden. Repeat with the remaining two bagels. Let the bagels cool before serving. Serve with yogurt and chive spread, if desired.
