Deep-Fried Chocolate Bars
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups (150 g) pastry flour, preferable (for a crispy texture)
- 1/4 cup (35 g) icing sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) water
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp (20 g) pastry flour
- 4 chocolate bars, cut in half crosswise
- 8 wood or bamboo skewers about 6 inches (15 cm) long
- Canola oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat the oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with paper towels or set a cooling rack on it.
- In a bowl, combine the dry flour, icing sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the water and the egg. Whisk together until the batter is smooth. Pour into a large shallow bowl. Set aside.
