Caramelized Pear and Chocolate Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust, 10-inch (25 cm) in diameter, homemade or store-bought
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) unsalted butter
  • 3 Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 4 oz (115 g) semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) 35% cream

Instructions

  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 180 °C (375 °F).
  2. Line a 23-cm (9-inch) round and 2.5-cm (1-inch) high pie plate with the pie crust. Prick the dough with a fork. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Let cool completely.
