Green Vegetable Tempura
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) lime juice
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) mirin
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) sugar
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) baking powder
- 1 cup (250 ml) cold Japanese (or other) beer
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 cup (250 ml) sugar snap peas, trimmed
- 1 cup (250 ml) green beans, trimmed
- 1 cup (250 ml) broccoli florets
- 1/2 zucchini, cut into rounds 1/4 inch (1/2 cm) thick
- Salt
- Oil for deep-frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine all the ingredients. Set aside.
