For game nights on TV, there’s nothing better than chicken wings that you can munch on all evening long. Ingredients

  • 5 whole chicken wings (see note)
  • 2 tbsp unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup (30 g) rice cereal (Rice Krispies-style), lightly crushed
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) honey
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) Frank’s RedHot-style hot sauce (see note)
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) toasted sesame oil

Instructions

  1. On a work surface, cut each chicken wing through the joints into three pieces. Compost the wing tips and keep only the two large pieces. Pat the wings very dry with paper towels.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt and spices. In another shallow dish, lightly beat the egg. In a third shallow dish, place the crushed rice cereal.
  3. Working one at a time, dredge the wings in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Dip into the beaten egg, letting some of the excess drip off. Press lightly into the rice cereal to coat well. Freeze at this point, if desired (see note).
  4. Place the chicken wings in the basket of an air fryer. Cook for 15 minutes at 375°F (190°C). Flip the wings over and continue to cook for 5 minutes or until nicely browned (see note).
