Creating Salt Dough with ingredients from the pantry
Ingredients
- 1 cup (250 ml) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) table salt
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) cream of tartar
- 1 cup (250 ml) water
- Food colouring
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the flour, salt and cream of tartar. Add and blend in the water. If you want a single color, add the food colouring at this step. If there is more than one color, add the food colouring to the dough at the kneading stage. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture forms a thick dough that pulls away from the sides of pan. Cool and knead for 1 to 2 minutes with disposable gloves. Keep the dough in an airtight container at room temperature. It will keep for several weeks.
