Apple and Sugar Fudge Pie
Ingredients
- 2.2 lb (1 kg) Cortland apples, peeled, cored and cut into wedges ½ inch (1 cm) thick (about 7 apples)
- ¼ cup (55 g) brown sugar
- ½ cup (105 g) brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 cup (250 ml) 35% cream
- ⅓ cup (75 ml) milk
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) apple cider vinegar
- 2 cups (300 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup (170 g) cold unsalted butter, diced
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) maple syrup
Instructions
- With the rack in the lowest position, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a non-stick or parchment paper-lined baking sheet, combine the apples and brown sugar. Bake for 15 minutes or until the apples are tender. Let cool for 15 minutes.
